Victims identified in serious crash under Highway 20 overpass in Dubuque County

DUBUQUE COUNTY, Iowa — Two men were seriously hurt in a crash under the Highway 20 overpass bridges early Friday morning.

The Dubuque County Sheriff's Office, along with Farley Fire and EMS, responded to 1st Street South around 4:37 a.m. on August 14. Deputies and first responders found Gabriel Rodriguez Pina, 41 of Bloomingdale, Illinois, and Gaurav Karwal, 41 of Cedar Falls, inside the car.

The sheriff's office says both men had serious injuries and were taken to MercyOne Dubuque by Farley Fire and EMS. Rodriguez Pina was later transferred to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
