Six candidates competing to lead the country’s most populous state faced off Wednesday night in a debate hosted by Nexstar.

It’s a crowded field and a tight race that has been shaken up by the recent dropout of former Rep. Eric Swalwell, who resigned from office and suspended his campaign this month as sexual assualt allegations surfaced.

Following Swalwell’s resignation, Nexstar Media Group and Emerson College conducted a fresh poll to see which candidates would qualify for Wednesday’s debate. Andon Labs, a San Francisco company that tests AI agents in real-world settings, signed a three-year lease and gave an AI named Luna a hundred thousand dollars to run a retail store. 

Luna, powered by Anthropic's Claude AI, hired employees, ordered inventory, and set prices on her own. 

The result has been mixed. The store opened on April 10 on Union Street, but Luna has struggled with scheduling, ordered a thousand toilet seat covers, and reportedly “can't stop buying candles.” 

Andon Labs built this experiment not as a business opportunity, but as a warning. If AI is going to manage humans, they want to be the ones watching when it does.

The store is open now in SF’s Cow Hollow neighborhood. It's one of the first real tests of what happens when AI doesn't just assist humans, but manages them.

"The first time I ever really listened to Kyle Kulinski’s show was in the back of a cab last summer. The driver had his phone hooked up through the stereo and was pumping out an episode through the car speakers — loudly, as if looking to convert a captive audience.

“Do you like Kyle Kulinski?”

The driver, Ahmed, was a recent immigrant and apparently a die-hard fan of Secular Talk, the political talk show that Kulinski broadcasts on YouTube. I told him, yes, in fact. I do like Kulinski, had come across his show several years ago, and, all things considered, he seemed pretty good.

“He understands what we’re up against,” Ahmed said. “Like Bernie.”

But I was surprised to hear Kulinski’s name mentioned in the same breath as Bernie Sanders, particularly with such adoration. Because what I did remember about Kulinski’s show struck me as mostly capital-P “progressive” takes on the news — the left wing of the Netroots crowd more than the democratic socialism Sanders has popularized.

It’s an impression that wasn’t entirely incorrect.

“I have no time for philosophical, airy bullshit,” Kulinski tells me from his home in Westchester, New York. “I don’t want to hear about Lenin. I don’t want to hear about Marx. I just want a super plainspoken, straightforward agenda with a straightforward way of selling it.”

With over 800,000 subscribers and nearly 670 million total views on YouTube, selling a progressive agenda is clearly something Kulinski knows how to do — even Democracy Now, the long-standing flagship of progressive media, cannot match his reach on the platform. Chapo Trap House can certainly boast a wildly devoted fan base (and a not insignificant degree of media influence), but their audience is roughly half the size of Kulinski’s.

While Secular Talk might be more likely to be looped in with the progressive networks around Air America and Pacifica alums like Sam Seder than the more resolutely socialist world, Kulinski’s fiery rhetoric, razor-sharp class instincts, and knack for withering takedowns sets him apart from his peers. Judging by his rhetoric alone, he’s closer to a Eugene Debs than a Chris Hayes.

But unlike Hayes, Amy Goodman, or his friend Cenk Uygur of The Young Turks — who began airing Secular Talk on his web network seven years ago — the thirty-two-year-old Kulinski is virtually invisible in the mainstream media. Despite his enormous fan base, his show has never once been mentioned in the obligatory trend pieces on “the Millennial Left” pumped out by the prestige media. Nor has Kulinski’s name ever popped up at all in the New York Times, Vox, the New Yorker, New York Magazine, or the Washington Post, despite his leading role in cofounding Justice Democrats, the organization widely credited with sweeping Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and the rest of “the Squad” to power.

Just last week, his Wikipedia page was deleted. The reason? “There is very simply no [reliable source] coverage of this person,” according to one moderator. In new media, he’s king — the Sean Hannity of the Berniecrat left. In old media, he’s nobody.

I suspect there are a few reasons for that. There is nothing “cool” about Kulinski’s show. (As a friend put it, “‘Welcome to Secular Talk’ sounds like something you’d hear on Egyptian radio.”) His no-nonsense social-democratic politics won’t get him much cred with the Full Communism crowd. He records his show not in Brooklyn or Los Angeles, but in a studio he built himself in his modest Westchester home. His hair is too groomed and his taste in clothes too preppy to qualify as “Dirtbag Left.” Nor has he ever attended an n+1 release party. “Not only have I not attended one,” he says, “I have no idea what that means.”

And yet he’s astonishingly plugged-in for a young man in the suburbs. Wondering how Sanders ended up on the Joe Rogan Experience? Kulinski, a frequent guest on Rogan’s wildly popular show, introduced them. “You make the most sense to me,” Rogan told Kulinski on a recent episode. “You’re a normal person.”

Much like Sanders himself, Kulinski’s show has a massive audience that just doesn’t compute with our media’s understanding of “what the kids want” or even “what the left-wing kids want.”

It’s probably for the best — the very woke and very WASP-ish decorum haunting much of the media world is nowhere to be found in Secular Talk. “Corporate Democrats over-focus on identity as a trick to divert you from the issues that unite us all — class issues,” he said on a recent episode.

Michael Beasley, one of the most gifted scorers ever, a Big 12 Player of the Year, Big 12 Freshman of the Year, McDonald’s All-American Game MVP, BIG3 Champion, back-to-back BIG3 MVP, and one of the best one-on-one players in basketball, joins Club Shay Shay. 

Beasley reflects on growing up in Maryland, surrounded by family members who were incarcerated, including his grandfather, father, and uncle. He shares how basketball became his outlet after shooting his first shot at three years old and beginning organized basketball at eight. He explains how being oversized for his age shaped the way people viewed him and how he often felt misunderstood.

He reveals that meeting Kevin Durant changed his basketball life. Durant pushed him into the gym, taught him the language of basketball, and helped sharpen his competitive drive. Beasley also discusses living with Nolan Smith’s family during his teenage years and how those relationships helped shape the player he became.

Beasley opens up about his father, saying he later learned the truth about why their relationship was limited as a child. He explains how that revelation created distance between him and his mother before learning of her cancer diagnosis.

He also discusses the famous story of stealing pizza on the first day he met Kevin Durant. Beasley discusses time spent at Kevin Durant’s house, saying KD constantly talked basketball even as a kid. He also speaks on Lethal Shooter, remembering him as an elite shooter long before today’s NBA embraced deep threes.

On AAU basketball, Beasley says money has changed youth sports, with too many families chasing profit instead of development, discipline, and love for the game. He also describes how some coaches profited from his talent while his family still struggled financially.

He talks about attending six high schools, being on his own at a young age, and dominating everywhere he played. Beasley then revisits winning the McDonald’s All-American Game MVP over Derrick Rose, James Harden, O.J. Mayo, Kevin Love, Blake Griffin, and DeAndre Jordan after using being ranked No. 6 by ESPN as motivation. He praises Rose’s athleticism, O.J. Mayo’s skill, Blake Griffin’s power, and Kevin Love’s passing.

Beasley reflects on his legendary freshman season at Kansas State, where he broke Carmelo Anthony’s freshman double-double record and outproduced Kevin Durant statistically. He names his all-time one-and-done starting five as Derrick Rose, Kevin Durant, Carmelo Anthony, Zion Williamson, and Anthony Davis.

He also discusses NIL, saying he wanted to stay in college longer but outside influences pushed him to the NBA. Finally, he revisits the 2008 NBA Draft and says he believes he would have been the No. 1 overall pick if the Chicago Bulls had not won the lottery and selected Derrick Rose.

Jaden McDaniels is quickly building a reputation as one of the NBA’s biggest “crashout” players, and the 2026 playoffs are only adding to it. In Game 2 against the Denver Nuggets, McDaniels didn’t hold back, straight up saying “they’re all bad defenders” when talking about Denver’s roster, calling out names like Nikola Jokić and their entire defensive unit after the Wolves dropped 119 points on them . At mile 26 of the Boston Marathon, Ajay Haridasse collapsed. He fell, got up, fell again and on the fourth time, he was ready to crawl.

Robson Oliveira saw it happen mid-race and hoped someone would stop. Aaron Beggs did. Together, they lifted Ajay and carried him across the finish line.

Ajay tracked them down after to say thank you. All three qualified for Boston 2027. All three are coming back.

That’s doing good.

Teen Refuses ID & OWNS 2 Cops in California!

A sharp teenager sitting in the backseat of his friends vehicle completely owns two cops during a traffic stop in Arizona when he calmly refuses to provide his ID and asserts his constitutional rights. The officers initially claim the vehicle matches a description then switch their story to speeding but the kid stands firm asking am i being detained or did i commit a crime im not even the one driving. My lawyer told me what to say and i know my rights. Watch as the cops get frustrated threaten a long stop and even try to punish the driver because of the passenger leading to an unlawful detention of the teenager.

This viral bodycam police encounter from Arizona shows classic police overreach and tyrant cop behavior where law enforcement tries to extend the traffic stop just because a passenger exercises his 4th amendment rights during a routine usa police stop. The teenager politely questions everything exposing how officers cannot prolong a stop without reasonable suspicion of a crime.
