House Republicans just blocked an effort to release the Epstein files. 
Right, we talked about the backlash Trump has been facing for his handling of the case, with MAGA supporters furious that the administration is trying to bury the whole thing and act like it’s not even worth caring about.
And so Democratic Representative Ro Khanna introduced a measure to the House Rules Committee that would have forced Attorney General Pam Bondi to publish all Epstein documents to a public website. []
With Khanna telling Axios:
"The question with Epstein is: Whose side are you on? Are you on the side of the rich and powerful, or are you on the side of the people?”
But, as we expected, Republicans blocked the measure in a 5-7 vote, though one Republican, Rep. Ralph Norman of South Carolina, did support it. []
With Khanna writing:
“People are fed up. They are fed up. Thanks ⁦@RepRalphNorman⁩. Need to put the American people before party!”
And that frustration is going nowhere, this morning you had Nikki Haley getting a ton of attention after tweeting:
“Release the Epstein files and let the chips fall where they may. This is why people don’t trust government. You can never go wrong with being transparent. Redact victims’ names but release the rest.”[]
Many also praising Khanna’s strategy of forcing the committee to vote on the matter, saying:
“Rep. Ro Khanna getting Republicans to vote against releasing the Epstein files was a brilliant political move. Every Democrat can go on record saying their opponent blocked the Epstein files.”[]
Jon Stewart also talking about how this is really the one thing Trump’s base won’t let go, right, they fall in line for him everywhere else, but this is just the breaking point, and no distraction is working:

In this tense final standoff atop a snow-covered mountain, Bob Lee Swagger executes a masterclass in strategic deception and marksmanship. Anticipating betrayal, he sends Memphis—wearing a hidden steel plate—to pose as him at the arranged meeting with corrupt Senator Meachum and the ruthless Colonel Isaac. As expected, a hidden sniper fires, hitting Memphis in the chest. But it's all part of Bob’s trap.

The shot reveals the enemy sniper's position, and Bob wastes no time—one clean shot, target down. As Memphis stands and advances, he confronts the two conspirators with calm intensity, weapon raised: “Anyone else with you?” They lie—of course. Another sniper takes aim at Memphis, but Bob spots him just in time and takes him out with another precise headshot.

Then, the final sniper makes a fatal mistake: using a scope that glints in the sun, giving away his position. Bob doesn’t hesitate—he destroys the enemy’s weapon and skull in one swift bullet, eliminating all threats in a matter of moments.

But there’s still Jack Payne—the sadistic enforcer—holding Sara hostage. From a distance, Bob disables him with surgical accuracy, blowing apart his gun arm and snapping his elbow with a second shot. Bob then descends to join Sara and Memphis, disarming Meachum and exposing a hidden gun.

Sara takes justice into her own hands, picking up the discarded weapon and unleashing her fury on Payne with several shots, finally ending his reign of terror. Bob gently comforts her, while Isaac—oddly impressed—murmurs, “Nice shooting, soldier.”

This isn’t just revenge—this is calculated justice delivered from a mountaintop, where every shot mattered and every move was life or death. Bob Lee Swagger proved once again why he’s the most feared sniper alive.

In Broward County, Florida, a teenage high school student was driving to school one morning, along with his younger sister, in rush-hour bumper-to-bumper traffic. They encountered a police officer who appeared to them to be directing traffic. When the officer pointed towards an empty right-hand lane of traffic, they turned the vehicle in that direction and continued driving to school. Unbeknownst to them, the Broward County Sheriff's deputy was attempting to perform a traffic stop, albeit in a lazy and confusing manner. Believing that the kids purposefully chose not to stop, he chased them down, pulled the brother out of the car, put him in handcuffs, and arrested him, being as rude as humanely possible in the process. Once he realized his mistake, he lied.

‘The Five’: A Democratic civil war is heating up

A powerful earthquake was felt across Alaska's southern coast on Wednesday. Following the seismic event, a tsunami warning was issued for a sparsely populated area along the state’s southern coastline with confirmation of sightings coming soon after. Early measurements put the quake's magnitude at 7.3. 

The U.S. Tsunami Center said the warning was in effect from about 40 miles (64.4 km) southwest of Homer to Unimak Pass, a distance of about 700 miles. Among the larger communities in the area is Kodiak with a population of 5,200.
