Microsoft Creates 5TB Glass Storage Lasts 10,000 Years
Scientists have developed a method to store digital data in borosilicate glass using femtosecond lasers, creating nanostructures called voxels that encode information with remarkable stability. This technology, demonstrated by Microsoft Research's Project Silica, can preserve up to 4.8 terabytes on a 2mm-thick glass piece with data longevity of 10,000 years.
