BOCA RATON, Fla. (CBS12) — A viral video showing a 13-year-old repeatedly screaming for his cellphone back while surrounded by adults inside a gated West Boca Raton community has now led to a second felony arrest.

More than a month after the April 3 confrontation inside the Lotus community, 53-year-old Ari David Brooks was booked Wednesday into the Palm Beach County Jail, according to Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office records. Jail records show Brooks was booked at 12:44 p.m. and released later that evening on surety bond.

New court records show prosecutors charged Brooks with robbery by sudden snatching, battery, petit theft and criminal mischief — the same four charges now facing Mitchell Schuman, the Boca Raton man previously arrested in the case.

CBS12 News has been following the case since videos first surfaced online showing adults confronting a teen over allegations of reckless e-bike riding inside the neighborhood.

One video previously obtained by CBS12 News appeared to show Schuman throwing a water bottle toward the teen during the confrontation.

Another video from Boca News Now appears to show Brooks taking the child’s cellphone before walking into the street while the teen follows behind him repeatedly asking for the phone back.

According to a newly released probable cause affidavit, investigators reviewed additional video evidence with prosecutors and determined “additional charges were warranted” against Brooks.

Detectives accuse Brooks of “purposely withholding” the cellphone while making “no effort” to return it. Investigators also allege Brooks repeatedly grabbed and restrained the child during the incident.

Sgt Blocks Road Then Retaliates Against Driver In Detroit Michigan

Welcome back to Crimes To Courts, your daily source for police accountability, first amendment audit footage, bodycam breakdowns, and tyrant cop encounters from across the USA. Today we head to Detroit, Michigan, where a routine drive down Marlowe Street turned into a textbook case of police overreach, retaliation, and constitutional rights violations by a Detroit Police Department sergeant.

THE INCIDENT
The location is the 1900 block of Marlowe Street, Detroit, Michigan, inside DPD's 2nd Precinct on the city's west side. A sergeant identified on camera as Sgt. Kenneth Krabill, DPD 149, parked his marked patrol vehicle in the middle of a residential roadway and stood there chit chatting with a civilian, completely blocking traffic. The driver, a calm motorist holding a valid Michigan driver's license, waited patiently before tapping his horn and politely asking the sergeant to move. Instead of complying, the sergeant flipped on his emergency lights, pulled directly in front of the driver, barricaded him in, and demanded ID without articulating any reasonable suspicion. This is exactly why first amendment audit and cop watch education matters.

KNOW YOUR RIGHTS
Under the 4th Amendment, officers cannot detain a citizen without reasonable articulable suspicion. Under the 5th Amendment, you have the right to remain silent. Under the 1st Amendment, you have the right to film police in public. The sergeant fabricated a fake law, claiming the driver cannot hold a Michigan license and a separate Ohio state ID at the same time. Per the Ohio BMV, that is 100 percent false. He then threatened a ticket for "no license" after being handed a valid license, a clear sign of retaliation for the horn honk.

WHO IS THE VICTIM
The motorist is a Detroit area resident driving lawfully on a public street in Michigan with valid ID and zero traffic violations. He kept his composure, called his father live for a witness, narrated the encounter in real time, and refused to be intimidated. His calm response is a masterclass in constitutional rights enforcement.

WHAT HAPPENED AFTER
As of this 2026 upload, no charges have been confirmed against the driver, consistent with the fact that no crime occurred. The footage has spread across police accountability channels, sparking calls for DPD internal affairs to investigate. Per WXYZ 7 Action News, the City of Detroit has paid out more than 19 million dollars in police misconduct claims since 2015, including a 2 million dollar payout in 2024 tied to a single troubled DPD sergeant, and a 25 million dollar federal civil rights lawsuit filed in February 2026 over a 2025 DPD traffic stop shooting. Video captured by Shane Ogden shows two EA-18 fighter jets colliding in mid-air near Mountain Home Air Force Base during the Fighter Skies Airshow. All four airmen are reportedly safe.

Emergency crews responded after the two planes collided during the show at a military base in western Idaho.

All four of the crew members from the planes ejected safely, said Kim Sykes, marketing director with Silver Wings of Idaho, which helped to plan the air show. Sykes said the crash occurred off base and she did not see the crash but saw the smoke afterward.

The Mountain Home Air Force Base said in a social media post that it was locked down following the incident during the Gunfighter Skies Air Show. Responders were on the scene and an investigation was underway.

The Mountain Home Police Department is reporting that the remainder of the Gunfighter Skies Airshow has been canceled. Police are asking everyone to avoid the area, and do not travel to the base at this time.
