Journalist films congestion of ships at Strait of Hormuz

A Canadian journalist filmed the congestion of ships at the Strait of Hormuz from a civilian boat from the Iranian port city of Bandar Abbas. Dimitri Lascaris, a renowned Canadian lawyer turned freelance journalist, said that he was able to observe the ships from the boat for about an hour before returning to shore. Footage of the Strait of Hormuz is rare as attacks have occurred in the area and Iran has been able to control the flow of ships through the Strait. Lascaris said that there were Israeli drones in the sky, and it was not safe for observers to be out on the water for too long. He added that the Strait is not closed, rather Iran has been able to control the flow of ships from both directions. Nearly a quarter of the world’s seaborne oil trade transits through the vital sea passage, with disruption caused by the war greatly affecting supply chains and oil and gas prices across the global economy.
