Top Gun star Val Kilmer dies at 65

ALBAWABA - Renowned Hollywood actor Val Kilmer, best known for roles such as Iceman in "Top Gun," Batman in "Batman Forever", and many more, has passed away at 65. According to an email sent by Kilmer's daughter to AP, the actor passed away on Tuesday in his LA house, surrounded by his friends and family, after battling a case of pneumonia. Val Kilmer was diagnosed with throat cancer, and despite defeating it back in 2014, his diagnosis still required him to undergo a tracheotomy procedure. The tracheotomy procedure altered his voice as witnessed during his recent performances, including his comeback as Iceman in 2022's "Top Gun: Maverick." While the actor didn't receive many awards during his career, a critic named Roger Ebert recognized Kilmer's talent and wrote, "If there is an award for the most unsung leading man of his generation, Val Kilmer should get it." He added, "In movies as different as Real Genius, Top Gun, Top Secret!, he has shown a range of characters so convincing that it's likely most people, even now, don't realise they were looking at the same actor."
